Ho! Ho! Ho! It's Christmas time once again and I entered the festive period in good spirits with Morley Town sitting pretty at the top of the Yorkshire Amateur Supreme League and looking odds on to win back to back promotions on our journey to become serious rivals to Leeds United.  However it turns out the mood in the dressing room was not quite as festive... Our last match had been a 2-0 win at home against Alwoodley, but to my mind despite the result our performance had been rubbish and  against better opponents, we would have been beaten. I told the lads this after the game, with the objective of keeping their feet on the ground and guarding against complacency which I thought had crept into our play a bit of late. Turns out two of my star players, Sam Wright and Louis Rowe had taken exception to my criticism and had been spouting off about it to anybody who would listen down the Farriers Arms.  While they are entitled to their opinion I would prefer that all a...

Morley Town have stormed clear at the top of the Yorkshire Amateur Supreme League, opening up an three point lead at the top of the table. Can they sustain their charge towards Level 10, or will the other teams in the division stop them in their tracks? Match 11: Morley Town v Leeds City This is somewhat of a grudge match after their reserve team did us over twice last season, not that it mattered overall. Still it would be nice to get one over this club. They lie in 10 th , while we are three points clear at the top from second placed Middleton, who host the hoodlums of Wortley. I make one change; Grantham comes in on the right after impressing off the bench against Littletown, with Faris Pamment dropping to the bench and Preston switching to the left wing. Team: McLachlan, Smith, Clappison, Dempsey, Alasttal, Agbozo, Wright, Grantham, Rowe, Ellis, Preston It is Leeds City who have the first chance when Marsden swings over a right wing cross and McLachlan saves Walker’s ...

Six wins out of six has propelled us to the top of the Supreme League, but as the old footballing cliche goes, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Can we keep this run going or is it just a flash in the pan? Match 7: Morley Town v Leeds University 21/10/23 We play host to the students of Leeds Uni in this latest Supreme Division fixture. They have had a poor start to season., lying in 12 th place with just three points. We are riding high and name an unchanged XI with Clappison still missing through injury. Team: McLachlan, Smith, Blakey, Nyame, Alasttal, Agbozo, Wright, Preston, Ellis, Rowe, Pamment Match Action After just one minute and 45 seconds we tear through the students’ defence with a move Pep’s City would be proud of. It all started with Ellis bursting forward, before laying it infield to Wright, who finds Agbozo. The Italian then plays a defence splitting pass inside the full-back for Pamment to run onto down the left flank. His simple cut back is tapped home b...
